1.1  Cancer Buddies Network takes the privacy of your information very seriously. This policy explains how and for what purposes we use the information collected about you via (referred to below as the 'Web Site'). Please read this privacy policy carefully. By using the Web Site and any services offered via the Web Site, you are agreeing to be bound by this policy in respect of the information collected about you via this Web Site.

2.  Personal information collected

2.1  We will collect the following personal information from you:

    2.1.1  name, a user name, gender, age range;

    2.1.2  e-mail address, location (town/city/area/country);

    2.1.3  details of any medical condition of yourself or another;

2.2  Although it is not compulsory to give us all of this information, if you do not then we may not be able to provide you with the full range of the Benefits of Membership.

2.3  If you are under age 16, due to differing international law requirements regarding children’s online privacy, we are unable to collect personal information about you. Instead, please ask your parent or guardian to join on your behalf. Parents: Please enter your own contact information, we cannot collect information that identifies your child who is under age 16.

3.  Use of this information

3.1  We will use this information in order to:

    3.1.1  administer your Membership of Cancer Buddies Network;

    3.1.2  process information submitted by you or on your behalf;

    3.1.3  send you information about other Members where you have both indicated to us that this is authorised;

    3.1.4  verify your identity;

    3.1.5  carry out analyses with the aim of making general improvements to Cancer Buddies Network, the Web Site and the Benefits of Membership;

    3.1.6  to obtain your views or comments on the services we provide;

4.  Sharing Information

4.1  Any information that is made available to us by use of your ID is confidential.

4.2  The only part of information that we will disclose on your behalf to any other Member or their User shall be that information that you have entered into the area of the Membership Application marked 'Disclosable' or any subsequent authority given to us by email. Our responsibility for disclosure will be limited in the manner set out in the Terms.

4.3  Information disclosed to another Member or their User under 4.2 of this Privacy Policy will only be disclosed in an 'anonymised' form unless and until Cancer Buddies Network is authorised (by someone using your ID) that it be made available to any other person. You can authorise this disclosure by communicating through the 'Contact Us' section of the Web Site.

4.4  Please note that some of the Benefits of Membership may be unavailable if you do not want to disclose the personal information you are asked for.

4.5  We may transfer your personal information to a third party as part of a sale of some or all of our business and assets to any third party or as part of any business restructuring or reorganisation, but we will take steps with the aim of ensuring that your privacy rights continue to be protected.

4.6  Other than as set out above, we will not disclose any of your personal information without your permission unless we are required by law to do so (for example, if required to do so by a court order or for the purposes of prevention of fraud or other crime).

5.  Information automatically collected from your computer

5.1  Log files/IP addresses: When you visit the Web Site our web server automatically records your IP address.

8.  Changes to your details and Permissions

If you would like to review or change the details you have supplied us with, you can do this by changing your membership profile or contacting us. If you wish to change the Permission you gave us regarding disclosure of information, you can do so by changing your membership profile or contacting us. Please note that once we have allowed any other person to access any information under your Permission, we cannot ensure recovery or destruction of that information.

9.  Use of forums or chat rooms

The Web Site may from time to time include chat rooms, forums, message boards, and/or news groups on which you can post information. Any information that you post in these areas becomes public information and you should always be careful when deciding to disclose your personal details as part of that information. You will find that there are rules for the use of our chat rooms, forums, message boards and/or news groups and we request that you abide by those rules as part of a condition of your continued membership.

12.1  As part of the Benefits of Membership, the information you provide to us may be transferred to countries outside of the European Union ('EU'). By way of example, this may happen if any of our web servers are from time to time located in a country outside of the EU or one of our service providers is located in a country outside of the EU. These countries may not have similar data protection laws to the UK. If we transfer your information outside of the EU in this way, we will take steps with the aim of ensuring that your privacy rights continue to be protected as outlined in this Privacy Policy.

12.2  If you access the Benefits of Membership while you are outside the EU, your information may be transferred outside the EU in order to provide you with those services.
