What people are saying about Cancer Buddies Network . . .

Below are some of the many comments we have received since our launch in August 2006:-

Some more quotes for you . . .

After being diagnosed with breast cancer, I felt so alone and desperate, I had exhausted my Family & close friends, I felt I didn't have anyone else to talk to. I sat at my computer and put into the search engine "Cancer support". At the top of the page was Cancer Buddies, I clicked on the link and started to read............I sat here for two hours, clicking on the headings, reading the stories, crying all the time, slowly realising I was not alone. I joined there and then and started to dip my toe in the water like a frightened child.
Now ........well, I couldn't do without my daily fix! Even if I just read the posts. What I like about the forums is it doesn't matter which Cancer you have, there is always someone to offer support and understanding. I hope soon I will be able to offer advice and support rather than just take it!

Until I was diagnosed with cancer I didn't really know what the word 'alone' meant even though I'd been single until my forties. Through 'cancerbuddies' I found a buddy who had the same diagnosis and had completed similar treatment - and even at the same hospital. Now that chemotherapy has ended and the operation is drawing near, she is helping me keep on an even keel - and we are even able to make each other laugh! I was told that the treatment would be a long journey - it's a lot easier to make a journey like this with others beside you who have been there before and can be reassuring when everything seems so frightening and overwhelming.

To find that you have been diagnosed with any type of cancer is a big shock and it is such a relief to find a site like CBN where you can discuss your problems, share jokes and news and make new friends and know that you will receive support from so many people, especially your Cancer Buddy and the people who do such a fantastic job running this site

I have been really thankful for all the help given to me when my sister and brother in law passed away. Without CBN I would not have coped so well and would like to say a big thank you to everyone who helped me. I just don’t know what I would have done without all the support and care I received, I’m so glad I found your site.

I joined CBN at the beginning of December 2007. I joined in desperation because my husband had to have his stomach removed because of cancer. I was at my wits end and needed to speak to someone who had experienced the same thing. I did find a Buddy and I can't say how much my Buddy has helped both myself and my husband. Without the understanding and passing on to us the experiences of my Buddy who had the same operation I would still be at square one. We have had help with diet and all the quirky aches and pains that we used to panic about. Now we know all the things that are normal after the operation and during the recovery period. Plus for the first time I felt I wasn't alone, someone understood. This is just to say a big thank you to my 'Best Buddy' and thanks to you all at CBN.
