As an oncologist I see patients and their families who are frightened and worried about the impact that cancer will have on their lives and how it will affect them. From my personal experience I have learnt that patients cope better when they are able to talk about what they are going through and share their experiences with someone who understands. I wholeheartedly support CBN, an exciting new concept in online Cancer Websites.

While my husband was ill, and after he passed away, CBN was the one place I could come to and not have to try and be brave or put a smile on my face, in a way CBN was for me, my space and my support. It didn’t matter if I cried or ranted and raved everyone just listened and cared.
Now I still need support but am able to offer that support to others as well. Unless I am away I come on here every day, often two or three times. I don’t know how I would have made it through the last 20 months if I hadn’t had CBN.

Vital Options International is pleased to partner with Cancer Buddies Network because our mission is one in the same – to bring the voices together of all those who are touched by cancer so together we can learn, teach, share, support, and advocate. Proving that cancer need never be a lonely experience.

I was diagnosed in Spain with Non Hodgkins Lymphoma, treated here and am now in remission. I was lucky enough to meet Jan, the Founder of CBN, through another Internet Group of hers, Janie's Jewels. My great Buddy Janie, a very special and loving lady, soon got me involved with Cancer Buddies and Wow I’m so glad she did!! I have found some amazing friends on the boards and have been to 2 meetings in the UK!! We laugh, care and share with each other - a wonderful ever growing family. I soon learnt from my own experience that there is little emotional support for ex-pats in Spain, so I have been spreading the word here and am now Spain's Coordinator for CBN. I have been given huge support by the media on the Costa Blanca including both radio ∓ TV interviews and have just had a stand at a local EXPO exhibition. All this free of charge - aren't people kind? We all prove Cancer need never be a lonely place.

Showing love and support is very important to families who suffer disruption in their lives, and I believe that positive attitudes and friendship should be encouraged especially at such difficult times. We see how important it is for people to be in touch with others in the same situation and who can empathise so deeply. I wish you the best of luck with your new venture and I am sure it will be very successful.

Hi, I found CBN via Google because I was told that my Non-Hodgkins might have come back yet again and I really needed to talk to others who understood how devastated I felt. As soon as I first posted, I was welcomed into this family of complete strangers who totally knew where I was coming from. Eventually I was told that it wasn’t back and yet here I am still having fun on the forums and hopefully helping others going through this scary journey. Our motto is onwards and upwards!!

We are delighted that Jan, who recovered from breast cancer using the Plant Programme dairy free diet, has set up Cancer Buddies to help other sufferers and their families. We are even more delighted that she is linking to Cancer Support International to help you find science based advice on diet and lifestyle to help you complement your orthodox treatment for cancer.
