The CBN Team
Please meet your Cancer Buddies Management Team and Trustees
Jan Rutter, C.E.O. and Founder of CBN Chair
Jan founded CBN back in 2003 so that other people could benefit from her own experience of having somebody who understood what she was going through to talk to while undergoing treatment and thereafter. She has run many other successful MSN websites in the past but wanted to expand on the theme to help and support as many people as possible throughout the world.
Jan is married to her childhood sweetheart and soulmate, Colin, and the devoted and very proud mother of two daughters, Jenny & Joanne and the even prouder grandmother of her three beautiful grandchildren Liesl, Charlotte and Matilda! She has over 25 years experience and expertise in all aspects of administration. She is responsible for breathing life into CBN, for its development, continual growth and daily maintenance, for marketing, fundraising, forging links with potential partners and the general management of all aspects of the site.
She says that she has no doubt that the reason she experienced her own cancer and successfully completed her year of treatment, was so that she would have the personal experience and drive to bring her dream of Cancer Buddies Network to fruition so that it could benefit as many people as possible.
Sharon Kaye, Assistant Manager Trustee
Joined Jan in the early days of her first cancer website 'Janie's Jewels' back in 2003 and has been a stalwart supporter and dear friend ever since. She followed Jan to Cancer Buddies Network where she became a Moderator, and progressed to becoming Assistant Manager responsible for helping with the smooth running of the Forum, sorting out any problems, answering queries and managing the site in the event of Jan's absence.
She is a fellow cancer survivor and has used her wealth of experience and warmth not only to support Jan, but to be a great buddy and mentor to all our members.
Jenny Hassam, Business Development Manager Trustee
Jenny, Jan's daughter, has wholeheartedly supported the team from the beginning by advising on strategy and marketing. She is a key team member setting up systems in which short, medium and long term goals and objectives can be achieved.
Jenny's roles have included being a Development Manager at UK Skills, a government funded charity. Before that she was a Project Manager at a communications agency working on BT’s flagship project which raised over £3million for ChildLine. She has qualifications in marketing, business strategy and project management.
Ann Kellaway, Secretary Trustee
Ann, a longtime dear friend of Jan's, works in an advisory capacity helping Jan to maintain the website, brainstorm on grant applications, advise on administrative matters and give input in decisions involving CBN.
Ann has run a local neighbourhood care group over several years and obtained charitable status for them. As co-ordinator she attended committee meetings, giving talks to WI and various other groups. She has solid administrative and secretarial experience over 25 years.
Colin Rutter, Treasurer and Marketing Manager Trustee
Colin, Jan's husband, advises on many aspects of CBN including finance and marketing.
He was Marketing Manager at an IT software company for ten years and has extensive experience of national and international stakeholder management and financial planning.
Joanne Pickard, Adviser Trustee
Jan's youngest daughter, has a zest and enthusiasm for CBN which has proved invaluable since our inception.
She brings her organisational and creative skills to the table with a fresh new perspective. She has worked as a Websites & Affinity Partnership Manager with the RAF Association, been PA to the Executive Team at Leicester Mercury and Project Co-ordinator at the Construction Equipment Association. Her current position is Event Manager with the British Forces Resettlement Services.
Caroline (Kaz) Dalling, Press Officer Trustee
Jan and Kaz first met through their mutual love of all things Bon Jovi! They became the closest of friends and when Jan decided to launch Cancer Buddies Network, Kaz was there at her side as one of her staunchest supporters. She has a logical and creative mind and has proved invaluable in helping Jan to bounce ideas around before they go live on CBN.
Kaz has nursing experience and has been a carer for her dad who had liver cancer, and her mum who developed bladder cancer, both since deceased. |
